Gill-Montague School Committee Approves $146,000 in Warrants, Eyes Fall Field Naming Vote
GILL — August 9, 2022 — Gill-Montague School Committee approves $146,000 in warrants and defers softball field naming to fall. The committee unanimously passed five fiscal year 2023 warrants at its August 9 meeting, covering student activity accounts and accounts payable across the high school and middle school, with the two largest warrants totaling $109,634.14 and $32,748.22. Superintendent Brian reported that the state has ended funding for COVID pool testing, rapid testing, and personal protective equipment, and that masks will be optional districtwide except in health offices. The committee moved turnaround day from January 20 to January 27 to better align with the adjusted school-year calendar. A vote to name the high school softball field after longtime coach Gary Mullins — with the broader athletic complex potentially carrying the name "the Bordeaux Fields" — was deliberately pushed to the second September or first October meeting to allow for broader public attendance.
