Gill-Montague School Committee Approves Cafeteria Contract, Warrants Totaling $93,500

GILL — May 10, 2022 — Gill-Montague School Committee unanimously approved a three-year cafeteria workers' contract with above-minimum-wage pay scales at its May 10 meeting. The board also approved two warrants totaling $93,532 — an accounts payable warrant of $92,892.80 and a Gill student activity account warrant of $639.20 — and ratified a package of seven administrator job descriptions that raises the top of the Director of Business and Operations salary range to $135,000 and formally adds civil rights coordinator duties to the Gill Elementary principal role. Superintendent Brian Bett presented a lengthy self-evaluation covering five annual goals, noting music program enrollment had grown from 18 to 76 students in grades 6 through 12 in a single year. Director of Business and Operations Joanne briefed the committee on a federal EPA clean school bus rebate program with $5 billion nationally available, but said the district likely does not qualify under poverty-prioritization criteria despite more than half of students qualifying for free lunch — an anomaly she said she would investigate further before any application.
