Gill-Montague School Committee Approves Lease, Roof Grant, and New Scholarships

GILL — May 25, 2021 — Gill-Montague School Committee unanimously approves lease, roof grant bid, and over $58,000 in scholarships at May 25 meeting. The committee authorized Superintendent Brian to submit a Massachusetts School Building Authority statement of interest for the Gill Elementary School roof — last replaced in 1995 with asphalt shingles — and approved a 20-year lease with the town of Gill running through May 31, 2041. Four scholarship gifts were accepted, including $25,000 from former Turners Falls teacher George Bush and $20,000 from the Bordeaux family. The committee also converted the assistant principal position from a 210-day to a 261-day year-round contract following the retirement of Tom Gaffigan, and passed an accounts payable warrant of $323,944.22. A vote on a new transportation coordinator position was deferred pending salary data.
