GILL — April 25, 2023 — Gill-Montague School Committee approves new superintendent contract and $320,000 security camera project. The committee voted Tuesday to ratify a new three-year contract for Superintendent Brian Cusack, setting his fiscal year 2023 salary at $133,500 and his fiscal year 2024 salary at $138,000, increases of roughly 2.25 percent and 3.37 percent respectively after Cusack deferred his FY23 raise during the prior year's contract negotiations. The board also voted 4-1 to transfer $320,000 from Charter tuition reserves to fund a security camera replacement at the high school and middle school, with one member voting no on both security motions without stating a reason. The committee unanimously approved four changes to the high school program of studies, including a new Principles of Engineering course, a Latin 5 course for an advanced cohort, and a Game Coding half-credit, while collapsing a two-semester biology sequence into a single course. Director of People Services Diane Ellis confirmed the district received nearly $20,000 through a competitive Stop School Violence Grant to fund a district threat assessment team.
