Gill-Montague School Committee approves surplus funds transfer for Hillcrest floor project
GILL — September 20, 2022 — Gill-Montague School Committee honors technology director and clears slate of financial actions. The committee unanimously recognized Director of Technology Tina Mahaney as Massachusetts's only 2022 MassCUE Administrator Award recipient, with Superintendent Brian Charette reading aloud the nomination by Director of Curriculum and Instruction Gene Powers, who wrote that "working with her is a gift." The board voted 8-0 to allocate $4,237.10 in leftover Sheffield window project borrowing toward the ongoing Hillcrest Elementary floor replacement, reducing the amount the district will need at a future special town meeting. Business and Operations Director Joanne reported the district landed $69,708.49 in rural school aid for fiscal year 2023 — nearly $25,000 more than the $45,000 budgeted — leaving an unallocated balance for the district to designate. The committee also approved an accounts payable warrant of $147,726.21, authorized student activity clubs for fiscal year 2023, accepted a $2,770.05 donation to the Bernard Plaza scholarship and a $150 athletics gift, and voted to declare two woodshop tools surplus for public bidding; Executive Assistant Sabrina Dupre is set to retire September 30 after six years supporting the district.
