Gill-Montague School Committee Introduces Two New Principals, Approves $436,000 in Warrants

GILL — July 26, 2022 — Gill-Montague Regional School District School Committee introduces two new elementary principals and reappoints district physician. The committee met remotely July 26, welcoming Kerry Heathwaite as the new Sheffield Elementary principal and Walter Houston as the new Gill Elementary principal, both Massachusetts natives returning from out of state. The board voted 7-0 to reappoint Dr. Dean Singer as district physician, with Superintendent Brian crediting Singer for organizing on-campus vaccination clinics and free sports physicals. Business and Operations Director Joanne reported that a petroleum-based subfloor discovered during the Hillcrest floor renovation will consume the remaining project budget, with a potential special town meeting in the fall as the funding backstop. The committee also approved five warrants totaling $436,244.68 and annual banking resolutions in unanimous roll-call votes, while noting that the open Gill committee seat remains vacant.
